What is an Airbnb Superhost?

A Superhost is a distinction offered by Airbnb to the best hosts on the platform. Well, but, how do we measure the quality of a host? That's exactly the requirements to become one. We explain it to you further below.

The most interesting thing about this category is that hosts don't need to apply to become one of them. The platform itself is responsible for evaluating its list of hosts and rewarding them if they meet the requirements automatically.

Benefits and advantages of being a Superhost on Airbnb

When you are a host of this category, your ads will have more visibility and with it, your reservations will increase. In addition, the reward for recommending to host or stay on Airbnb will be 20% higher.

  • Increase your income as a host. According to Airbnb itself, Superhosts earn 22% more than regular hosts. This increase in income is mainly due to the fact that you can charge a certain extra premium on the price of your tourist accommodation and also...
  • Increase the number of visitors to your ad. Having the Superhost badge on Airbnb significantly improves the SEO of your tourist accommodation, its positioning and, in addition, users have a filter, as seen in the video below, with which to filter only the accommodations of this type of hosts.

How to be a Superhost?

If you want to become an Airbnb Superhost you must meet several requirements. The first, perhaps a bit obvious, is to have an Airbnb account. You can take a look at the guide to post on Airbnb. Also, keep in mind that the requirements to be a Superhost below are calculated based on the last 12 months of activity. However, you do not need to have that year of seniority on the platform.

Requirements to be a Superhost

Specifically, to be an Airbnb Superhost you must have fulfilled:

  • You have 10 complete reservations. Or you have 100 nights reserved, spread over at least 3 reservations.
  • The review rate is higher than 50%. That is, half of your guests have reviewed you. If you need help with this, take a look at our post on Airbnb reviews.
  • Your response rate is higher than 90%. That is, you answer 9 out of 10 questions from potential guests that come to you. If maintaining this high rate concerns you, take a look at this post on automatic response tools for hosts.
  • Not having canceled any reservation except in case of force majeure.
  • Your rating is at least 4.8

How to become a Superhost?

The best of all is that once you meet the requirements to be a Superhost from above, Airbnb will assign you the label automatically. No need to send any application. Evaluations are carried out on the first day of each natural quarter.

If your host profile has met the requirements to be a Superhost you will receive an email from the platform announcing it to you.

Mistakes to avoid if you are a Superhost

Undoubtedly, the platform will promote you. The mere fact of having this status will help you to have more reservations. However, do not commit these errors:

  • Do not claim to be an agent or representative of Airbnb. The contractual relationship does not change with your badge.
  • Do not use the badge connected with false, misleading or illegal information.
  • Do not sell your Superhost account to a third party.

Differences between Superhost and Airbnb Plus

One of the most frequent doubts of hosts is what are the differences between being a Superhost and Airbnb Plus? In summary, being a Superhost does not imply having an Airbnb Plus listing. But it is the other way around. That is, if you want your tourist accommodation to be considered as Plus, your host profile must be Superhost (more than 4.8 average rating in the last year and not having canceled any reservation).
